Track Laying In Fast Progress Along Elevated Viaduct


Metro rail an alternate mode of future public transport will decongest traffic in the city roads. At present track lying along the elevated viaduct is on in full swing. 

The work is fast progressing between Koyambedu and Vadapalani. According to Metro Rail sources the stretch between Koyambedu and St.Thomas Mount is all set to be completed by 2013. 

The elevated viaduct construction is almost completed. The remaining work on the viaduct along 100 Feet Road at different stages is nearing completion. Hoisting, placing and setting of train tracks is now progressing fast on the viaduct between Koyambedu and KK.Nagar. 

Train tracks are also been laid at the metro rail depot at Koyambedu. Railway station building is taking place at Koyambedu, Vadapalani and Alandur. A single metro train will remove about 16 buses or 300 cars or 600 two wheelers from the road during peak hours. Metro train will reduce travel timing by 70 percent.
