The Raymonds 420 Sailing Nationals 2012 witnessed active participation and stiff competitions.
The 420 is an Asian Games Class and a stepping
stone to the 470 which is the Olympic Class.
The Raymonds 420 Sailing Nationals concluded
with the experienced team of Yakobu K & Rajeev Kumar (AWSA – Hyderabad))
consolidating their victory in the final race over the talented young team of
Upamanyu Dutta & Hussain Arsiwalla (RBYC – Mumbai).
The winners were
decided only on the last race of the 12 race series giving the championship a
nail biting finish.
The Festival of Sails is organized to introduce the
sport to newcomers of all ages. Yakobu K & Rajiv Kumar AWSA
Hussain Club (12 points) secured the first place. Upamanyu Dutta &
Hussain Arassiwalla RBYC Club Mumbai (20 points) got the second place.
The
third place went to Imo Lemnok & Pankaj Kumar INWTC Mumbai (26 points). In
the youth category, the first place went to Upamanyu Dutta & Hussain
Arassiwalla RBYC Club Mumbai and the second place went to Zephra Currimbhoy & Megna BT RMYC –
Chennai. The aim of Royal Madras Yacht Club is to promote and encourage sailing
among students and youth.
