Drinking water and drainage
schemes at areas recently included within the Chennai Corporation limits will
be taken up at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore, Tamil Nadu Local Administration
Minister K P Munusamy said. The Minister stated that Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa
has ordered to implement underground sewage scheme in all Municipalities and
Town Panchayats in the State.
As per the Chief Ministers orders, underground
drainage scheme will be implemented in 22 Municipalities in the first phase, at
a cost of Rs 2535 crore. Likewise, a scheme worth Rs 754 crore has been
prepared form 24 Town Panchayats,’ he said.
