Doing Great service To The Poor And Needy

Since its humble beginning, MITHRA has been functioning well for the past 35 years, doing great useful service to the poor and needy handicapped persons. 

A special school is run for the retarded children. Medical service is also provided to the children. Sr.Mary Theodore, O.M.A is the Founder of Mithra (Madras Institute to Habilitate Retarded Affiliated). 

MITHRA also has a vocational training unit. The objective of MITHRA is to help out the mentally retarded and physically challenged in the best possible way.

The commitment of Sr Mary Theodore towards the cause of helping the poor and her great service to the disabled has earned her number of laurels and top awards as a mark of appreciation her humble service. 

Australia's highest civilian award, the Order of Australia was presented to Sr.Mary Theodore in recognition of her dedication and hard work and her service to the poor disabled people. St.Rose's Special school  was established in 1977. 

The school provides a comprehensive education according to each Childs capacity to learn. A curriculum is put together keeping in mind the kids individual needs. 

The motto of the school is Challenge to Conquer. Training is given to the Mentally retarded disabled according to their basic capacity so as to make them as independent as possible. 

Computer training is also given to keep the youngsters up to date with the latest hi0tech world. The Montessori sessions provides their attention and concentration. 

Vocational training is given in candle making, envelope making and gardening assisting in the manufacture and repairs of calipers.
