Nethrodaya proudly organises the event for “Releasing of Free TRB & TNTET Audio Books for Visually Challenged”. We have been constantly striving to elevate the lives of the differently abled by way of implementing new concepts and initiatives and have come up with yet another novel idea.
We always strived to provide academic assistance for the visually challenged students residing in rural areas. Study materials are only printed text books which do not help the visually challenged in any way. Since their parents too are illiterate, they do not have any other means of acquiring such first hand assistance.
Hence, audio study materials have proved to be a blessing urging them to reach greater heights and boosting them up with confidence.
The differently abled, in today’s world, are well educated, skilled, and efficient. They long for challenges and opportunities to become self reliant. In contrast, few decades ago, the differently abled were treated as mere objects of mercy, and the society failed to recognize that these persons had their own needs such as self respect, need to contribute and be givers and not receivers all the time.
The visually challenged had to depend very heavily on the available printed study materials while appearing for various recruitment examinations conducted by the State government from time to time.
In the above scenario the self esteem, dignity and self confidence of the young and aspiring visually challenged students reached all time low.
Today the visually challenged are performing well in all walks of life .The visually challenged are being recruited by the corporate world based on their outstanding merit and academic performance and not on mercy.
The State Government recruits suitable persons to various posts through TNPSC and TRB .The syllabus and the study materials for appearing the Board examinations released recently, are only in the printed format .
The visually challenged students have no study materials in Braille format or in audio format. This has pushed the visually challenged to the back seat vis a vis the normal candidates. Nethrodaya, therefore, propose to release free audio study materials for TRB (Teacher Recruitment Board) and TNTET (Tamil Nadu Teacher’s Eligibility Test) examinations exclusively for the benefit of the visually challenged.
These audio books will bring a great revolution among the visually challenged candidates in their preparedness for these recruitment board examinations and enable them to get selected for government jobs with good salary and social status, without much difficulty.
