The MTC Thirumangalam bus stop at the corner added to the congestion. The bus stop is now shifted a bit forward from the current location. The Thirumangalam Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus stop on Second Avenue Road, Anna Nagar has been shifted to ease traffic.
Earlier buses used to stop at the corner. This caused confusion as share autos blocked the movement and was encroaching the bus stop space. A change of bus stop was made by the Traffic and MTC officials with a view to ensuring easy flow of traffic.
The driving factor behind the proposal is the traffic congestion near several bus stops. Often, this is the cause of a traffic jam during peak hours. It is also common to find several vehicles piled up whenever buses halt at the bend while turning from 13th Main Road. MTC official said the drivers have also been advised to stop the buses at the designated stops.
