Students of Chennai Schools always take trips to visit the Meteorological Centre in Nungambakkam, aspart of an awareness program jointly organized by the Centre and Federation of Science Clubs of Tamil Nadu.Organised jointly by the Centre and Federation of Science Clubs of Tamil Nadu, the workshop introduced the students to interesting concepts such as seasons and monsoons and equipment used for modern observing systems.
The workshop was organised to create awareness among the students of scienceOn the occasion of the World Meteorological Day, the Meteorological Department had thrown open its facilities in and around Chennai to the public. Many students visit the Meteorological offices in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam.
The visitors were also briefed about the use of handheld digital devices for validating the weather parameters. Each year, on 23 March, the World Meteorological Organization, its 189 Members and the worldwide meteorological community celebrate World Meteorological Day around a chosen theme. This year, the theme is “Powering our future with weather, climate and water”.
