The Company was started with the foresight of His Highness Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, Maharaja of Mysore and Bharatarathna Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the great Engineer and Statesman. The Company manufactures the world famous Mysore Sandal Soap and Mysore Sandalwood Oil since 9 decades. In addition to the Mysore Sandal Soap and Mysore Sandalwood Oil, the Company has launched a Super Premium Brand “Mysore Sandals MILLENNIUM” Soap enriched with enduring aroma of natural Sandalwood Oil and other exotic essential oils.
His Excellency Dr. K. Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu launched the New Product Mysore Sandal's Millenium soap. Thiru Shekar, Managing Director, Karnataka Soaps & Detergents Ltd, Ms. Sukanya, Cine Actress, Thiru D.N. Vasanthakumar, General Manager, Marketing, Karnataka Soaps & Detergents Ltd were present at the launch function held on 27th February 2012 at Hotel G.R.T Grande T. Nagar Chennai. Karnataka Soaps & Detergents Limited is the only Government Undertaking in India under the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) segment.

In addition to the Mysore Sandal Soap and Mysore Sandalwood Oil, the Company manufactures, Popular soaps, Detergents, Cosmetics and Agarbathis. The Mysore Sandal Soap and Mysore Sandalwood Oil are the flagship products of the Company known as the Brand Ambassador of Karnataka State and India.
The Company has certification of ISO 9001:2000 for its quality standards and ISO 14001:2004 for its Environmental Policy and obtained Geographical Indication Registration Certificate for “Mysore Sandal Soap & Mysore Sandal Oil”. KS&DL has been awarded the Chief Minister’s Rathna Award for the year 2009-10 for performance excellence.
In the very competitive market and to meet the demand from the emerging high-end users with international quality standards derived from pure vegetable oils base enriched with enduring aroma of natural Sandalwood Oil and other exotic essential oils, the Company has launched a Super Premium Brand “Mysore Sandals MILLENNIUM” Soap, which is unique and first of its kind in India.
