Flyover work At Thirumangalam Picks Up

The construction work for flyover at the Thirumangalam junction  is progressing fast and well. The flyover is being constructed to  facilitate smooth flow of traffic across two intersections – Anna Nagar 2nd Avenue and Mogappair Road junction on Jawaharlal Nehru Salai. A senior Highways Department official said that once the flyover would facilitate four-lane traffic.
The service road beneath would have two lanes on either side. With pedestrians facing tremendous hardship due to continuous flow of traffic, particularly heavy vehicles, the department would construct a pedestrian subway linking Mogappair Road with the Anna Nagar 15th Main Road.

According to Chennai Metro Rail sources, the pillars of the flyover will be  positioned in such a way that it would not affect the Metro Rail tunnel underneath.
