Chennai Mayor Inspects Villivakkam Subway


The Chennai Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy had recently inspected the construction work of the Villivakkam subway took stock of the progress of work.

Corporation Commissioner P.W.C. Davidar, Villivakkam MLA J.C.D. Prabhakar, and Superintending Engineer (Bridges) Kumaresan were present during the inspection. 

The vehicular subway at Villivakkam Railway level crossing  are  behind schedule. 

Local residents had been making repeated pleas with the civic body to complete the subway to ease traffic congestion. On completion, the two-way, 448-metre-long subway would considerably reduce traffic congestion from Villivakkam to Kolathur. 

Most of the major work on the Villivakkam Subway has been completed. The project is being developed jointly by the Southern Railway and the Chennai Corporation. 

Once completed the subway would ease traffic congestion in Villivakkam, Kolathur and adjoining areas. The Villivakkam vehicular subway is a much-awaited facility.
