Due to the metro rail work, 13th Main road has become a one way high road. It is very difficult to cross or even walk along the 13th Main Road, Anna Nagar. Because of the diversion of traffic through the road, the area residents find it very difficult to lead a normal and peaceful life.
The residents of Anna Nagar suffer heavy due to the sudden traffic arrangements made by the Traffic Police Department because of the on going Chennai Metro Rail Project.
No doubt, the people have to bear the inconvenienced caused due to the metro rail project. However the Traffic Department should have arranged for Peoples Meet in order to get good and viable suggestions from the public. For example, the lorry traffic can avoid 6th Avenue and 13th Main Road. Instead they should be asked to use the 18th Main Road. Already congested roads due to this problem should be free from halting of autos, share autos.
The two wheelers, cars etc should be asked not to use the streets inside the residential colonies instead they should use only the Avenue Roads and Main Roads. Because of the heavy flow of traffic, senior citizens school children find it very difficult to cross the roads.
Hence as a safety measure, Traffic Constables is required at all intersections and junctions in and around Anna Nagar area. The badly damaged roads and streets due to the heavy rains during the monsoon period needs to be re-laid. Temporary patch work is not the best solution.
These are some of the suggestions for the kind consideration of the Traffic department officials.
