A box-type storm water drain using Precast blocks is being constructed on 3rd Main Road, Shenoy Nagar, as a pilot project by Chennai Corporation. Once completed, the Corporation will extend the use of this innovative technology to recently expanded areas such as Ambattur Zone. According to officials, with this technology, the drains are stronger and can be completed in 2 days when compared to the conventional method. The Corporation of Chennai Mayor Thiru Saidai Duraisamy and is to implement this Innovative Eco-friendly Malaysian model based on its success at Shenoy Nagar.
The Mayor has also asked the officials in the SWD wing of Corporation to make provision of holes in the precast RCC Structures for percolation of rain water.
