A tree near the Anna Arch that remained yet another obstruction to the construction of the flyover construction work has been cut down by the civic body.
Many road side avenue trees were cut down along 3rd Avenue Road , between Anna Arch and Siddha Medical College in view of flyover work at the junction of Poonamallee High Road, Nelson Manickam Road and Anna Nagar Third Avenue.
For the construction of the twin flyovers at Anna Arch intersection many trees will disappear.
Environmentalist are concerned about the city's fading green cover. Residents hope that tree saplings would be planted once the flyover gets completed.
