Entrepreneurship Development Programme Inaugurated

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Stella Maris College, has been conducting a four week Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme supported by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.The programme was inaugurated on January 4th 2012 which would be conducted till February 3, 2012 at the college campus. 

The programme focuses on training the women to be successful entrepreneurs.  of life including home makers, budding entrepreneurs with varied educational backgrounds. The programme is being attended by 35 participants belonging to various walks of life including home makers and budding entrepreneurs, with varied backgrounds like M.Sc., M.A., MBA, MCA, B.A., B.Sc., B.Com   and  Diploma Holders.  

 The participants are keen on starting their own business in a small way and most of them are Housewives. The programme started with a prayer by Sr.Susan fmm, Secretary of the college. Welcoming the gathering, Dr.Sr. Colleen North, Vice Principal , Stella Maris College said that  the ED cell of the college was formed in 2006 and has been active in promoting entrepreneurial ventures since then. She congratulated the participants on their keen interest and desire to learn to  become successful entrepreneurs. 

Dr.Geetha Swaminathan, Project Advisor, EDC, presented an overview of the programme. She motivated the participants by saying that they have the Power to achieve anything in life. Given the opportunity and the training,  women can be great achievers in anything they, she added. 

Mr.P.Muralidhran, Assistant Director ,  MSME-DI, delivering the inaugural address, stressed on the importance of Women Entrepreneurship and spoke about their potential in running a business.  

 Ms.Vasundhara, Managing Director, Visible Difference, who is a very successful woman entrepreneur is a role model to many women. Delivering the special address she shared her experience in overcoming the entry barriers in becoming a successful entrepreneur. Ms. Mary Teresita, Chief Project Leader of the EDC proposed the vote of thanks and thanked the DST for supporting this venture.
