Anna Nagar Western Extension Needs A Clean And Healthy Surrounding!

Every year during the monsoon session, the residents in W Block, Anna Nagar Western Extension finds it very difficult in moving out from their houses, due to water logging in the roads and streets.

The heavy inflow of rain water mixed with sewerage emanating from Padi area almost filled in the entire streets in B Sector, Park Road, School Road etc.

The drainage canal (Otteri Nullah) runs through UR. Nagar, B Sector near 7th to 8th streets, Park Road, in between UR Nagar Extn. and AP plots have blocked and overflowing in the streets in many points.

The residents  face health hazards. The width of storm water canal (water ways) has been reduced at a greater extent, due to encroached by certain miscreants, opposite to Plot Nos. 78 & 79, Park Road, in between Mosque and Plot No. 17 UR Nagar Extn, adjacent area in Plot No. 31and AP Plot H1, AP 70, AP 71 etc. In 100 feet Road point, instead of open canal, 2 feet dia pipe line (about 100 meters)  has been laid which is not sufficient to cater the need of heavy turnout.

Due to the blockage in many points and encroachments in the canal course, the Chennai Corporation must come forward to sort out with a special programme to clear the encroachers and to widen and  deepen the canal water ways with adequate gradient (slope) in the entire stress. In view of increase in the level of road height  in 3rd Avenue and 9th Street, the residents in 10th street always affected with rain water stagnation. The  water could does not get drained out either in 11th street or in 3rd Avenue so also in 11th street, D. Sector.

Blockages at certain points along the  storm water drain in Park Road needs to be cleared. The entire stretch in the constructed drainage portion in Park Road water mixed up with sewerage. The position has been explained in person by the Association President Dr. K.S. Palaniswami, Vice President Thiru JMS Nagarjunan and Secretary Thiru P. Vadivel to Thiru K. Shanmugam B.E., Assistant Commissioner, Zone VII, Chennai Corporation on 3rd January, 2012. Residents hope that adequate measures will be taken by Chennai Corporation  to solve the perennial problem in W Block.
