Anna Nagar Second Avenue stretch near the Round Tana is all set to go hi-tech at public parking lots, as additional imported parking meter are getting installed. The solar-powered powered automatic parking meter is planned to make automatic parking meter system more effective.
The Chennai Corporation is all set to operate additional automatic solar power parking meters along the Second Avenue roads in Anna Nagar area. Just by dropping a coin, entering the vehicle number and taking the receipt, the easy-to-use automated parking meters will bringing about more discipline in parking. The blue-coloured, tall parking meters are placed near the pavements.
The parking rates are displayed on the meter - Rs. 5 for one hour, Rs. 10 for two and Rs.15 for three hours. The meters, sourced from France, are powered by solar energy. They work based on a GPRS facility, and are connected by a common server that would register details such as vehicle numbers and the duration of parking
