Foreshore Estate Terminus Needs Attention

The neglected MTC  Foreshore Estate bus terminus needs a new improved look. The terminus is in need of renovation and should be  improved by the MTC  officials..   

Metropolitan Transport Corporation(MTC) Foreshore Estate terminus located on Loop Road, for route numbers (12.B. Foreshore Estate to Vadapalani), (27-D Foreshore Estate to Villivakkam),32A- Foreshore Estate to Mint) and  (6D-cut to Tolgate) lacks basic facilities  for the passengers and MTC bus crew as well. 

The terminus has poor lighting and uneven road surface and ugly surroundings. During rainy season the entire terminus get water logged, muddy and slushy. 

The residents stated that the MTC officials needs to modernise MTC's Foreshore Estate bus terminus and to take action to improve the basic facilities of  the bus terminus for the benefit of the traveling public at the earliest

Dedicated Towards Preserving the “Gayaki” Style Of Playing


 T Jeyaraaj Krishnan and Jaysri Jeyaraaj Krishnan (popularly known as Jeyaraaj and Jaysri) belong to the unbroken lineage of the direct Shishya Parampara of Nadajyoti Sri Muthuswamy Dikshitar - who is one among the famous Trinity of Carnatic Music.Jeyaraaj and Jaysri started learning Music at a very young age and have undergone intensive training under Sri Anantharama Iyer and Smt Champakavalli, The latter were initiated into music by their father Brahmashri Sri. Ananthakrishna Iyer, a direct disciple of Ambi Dikshitar, the great grand nephew of Nadajyothi Muthuswami Dikshitar. 

Brahmashri Ananthakrishna Iyer was the founder of Sri Guru Guha Gana Vidyalaya at Kolkata, which specializes in the "Gaayaki" style of playing Veena. At present they are also under the tutelage of Sangeeta Acharya Shri Chingleput Ranganathan in Chennai. Veena holds a revered place in Carnatic Music.

 
Jeyaraaj and Jaysri have decided to dedicate themselves to preserve the "Gayaki" style of playing the Veena by imbibing the traditional "Tanjavur Baani”, a hallmark of their school.  Veena, being the   preferred   instrument   of Muthuswamy Dikshitar, has a special status in the school to which the artists belong.  One of the most authentic styles of playing this difficult instrument stems from their Vidyalaya. The artists in their own humble way, have taken it up as their mission to uphold the rich legacy inherited from their Gurus. They have received the “Best Veena Players” award from The Indian Fine Arts Society at their annual festival.They have had the privilege of performing at the National Programme of Music before an invited audience in the studios of Chennai AIR.. Jeyaraaj and Jaysri have also used the platform of Lecture Demonstrations to popularise and highlight the attributes of the Veena. 

The Indian Fine Arts Society featured Jeyaraaj and Jaysri in a special programme during their prestigious annual festival, where, a rare insight was provided into the evolution of the instrument, tracing its history from the Vedic Ages to its contemporary pride of place in the world of Carnatic Music. Jeyaraaj and Jaysri have been regularly called upon to participate in concerts organized by “The Veena Foundation”, New Delhi in various parts of the country. 

Apart from the famed December Music Season in Chennai, the artists have been featured in prestigious festivals around the country. They are dedicated towards preserving and propagating the “Gayaki” style of playing the Veena. 

Their latest audio album is a unique offering called Anandam Anantam” featuring tanams in 18 rare Carnatic ragas like Balahamsa, Navroj, Nadanamakriya, Vegavahini, etc, and has received very favourable response from the critic and rasika community alike. Among other albums, they have also released a CD titled “Subramanya”, in which they have rendered Muthuswamy Dikshitar’s Krithis on Lord Karthikeya.

Buses Have Difficulty Coming Out Of CMBT


The Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses are found standing in a long line to exit th CMBT on 100 Feet Road due to traffic congestion.

Due to heavy traffic flow, a long line of buses and vehicles are found  waiting for a long time at the junction, to turn towards Koyambedu Market and CMBT,since there is almost a continuous movement of vehicles on all the four sides. 

It is reported that  the State Highways department has proposed to build a flyover, covering two signal points at the Jawaharlal Nehru High Road-Arumbakkam Road and in front of the main entrance of the CMBT on Jawaharlal Nehru High Road.

Chennai Corporation Erects Identicial Boards

The photograph taken shows latest Chennai Corporation road sign board installed along Second Avenue Road, Anna Nagar. Road signs such as pedestrian crossing, traffic directions are installed by the Chennai Corporation on all city roads. 

As part of the city beautification measures, all the bus route roads in the Chennai Corporation has got latest and stylish uniform signboards. 

The stainless steel signboards would have names of the roads written on retro reflective sheet. The  boards providing directions to the road users and signboards on all arterial roads have come up at important junctions. The motorists have appreciated this move taken by the Chennai Corporation.

Flower Arrangement Training

For effective utilization of flowers, Urban Horticulture Development Centre (UHDC), Chennai of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, is going to conduct one day training programme on “Flower Arrangement and Bouquet making” on 20.04.2011 (Wednesday)  between 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. 

Training certificates, lunch will be issued to all participants. Lack Of Illumination Along Avenue Road


The Corporation is finding it challenging to provide optimum illumination on roads in view of the thick foliage in many localities. The photo shows the road light on Anna Nagar Second Avenue covered by tree branches. A number of streetlights in Chennai are in the midst of such trees. This is one reason for  inadequate street illumination. 

According to residents, the lack of illumination is one of the factors that encourage antisocial activities. The trees obstruct the light that emanates from the street lamps, making motoring on the road  a risky place.

To Provide An Unique Identification


The photograph shows a young girl taking the recognition detection procedure for getting the Unique Identification Authority of India, Government of India-Aadhaar identity card and number,at Kambar Colony, Anna Nagar on 19th April 2011. 

Latest hi-tech cameras and biometric devises  were used to perform recognition detection of a person's identity so as to insure  accurate details were collected. 

A fingerprint scanner was also used to capture a digital image of the fingerprint pattern. Face detection recognition system a part of the process. The Aadhaar project which aims to give an Unique Identity  to every citizen was recently launched in Chennai city.
