Lack Of Illumination Along Avenue Road

The Corporation is finding it challenging to provide optimum illumination on roads in view of the thick foliage in many localities. The photo shows the road light on Anna Nagar Second Avenue covered by tree branches. A number of streetlights in Chennai are in the midst of such trees. This is one reason for  inadequate street illumination.

According to residents, the lack of illumination is one of the factors that encourage antisocial activities. The trees obstruct the light that emanates from the street lamps, making motoring on the road  a risky place.
