The Koyambedu vegetable market witnessed violent scenes as daily-wage labourers went on a rampage damaging over 50 lorries.
A lorry accidentally knocking down two laboures started the problem. No sooner the news spread in the market, scores of daily wage labourers thronged the place and started throwing stones on the lorries that arrived from various parts of the state.
Over 50 vehicles from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka were damaged in the incident.
Police rushed to the spot and resorted to minor lathicharge to disperse the crowd. Police Security has been tightened in the area to prevent any further untoward incident.
