An Opportunity To Update And Enhance Soft Skill Trainers

ASTRA – An Association of Soft Skills Trainers a nonprofit Society (Registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975) conducted a three day “Train the Trainers/HRP/PO” certification program at Hotel  Raj Palace , T.Nagar from 10.11.2011   to   12.11.11

.The basic purpose of this workshop is to understand the industry/institutions expectations from Trainers/HRP/PO. 

The workshop aimed at bringing the Industry and Human Resource Professionals together under one roof, so that their knowledge interaction during the programme can synergize each other. Around 25 Participants representing Soft Skill Trainers and HR Personnel from Training Industries, Corporate and Educational Institutions attended the programme.  Mr. Mahadevan, Director, R-Tax Consulting Pvt., Ltd. (A well noted media Icon), Mr Ravichandran Rajagopal, President, VLLC, a Software Development company in Omaha, Nebraska, USA, Mrs.Vatsala Gurumurthy – DGM- TANGEDCO, TNEB were among the chief guests on the inaugural day. ASTRA Secretary - Mr.V.Vijay Anand Sriram welcomed the Chief Guests and the participants. 

Mr.V.J.Ashok - Program facilitator introduced the Chief Guests to the participants. The chief guests emphasized the need of Association like ASTRA, to enhance the ability, quality and skills of Trainers and also to update themselves according to the expectations of the Industry as a whole

.Mr. Vijay Anand Sriram stressed and insisted on the importance of ethics and value systems in training which are slowly dying and disappearing.Prof J L Narasimhan, Winner of ASTRA Life Time Achiever of the Year Award – 2009 and senior soft skills trainer spoke on maximizing individual development through the learning process. Dr.Syed Anwar Kabir, Director- MBA, Syed Ammal College of Engineering, Ramnad elaborated about the role of Training and Trainers in Institutional Training.Mrs. Rajeswari , Project Head , Rajasri Systems Pvt., Ltd., Sri K Srinivasan , Regional Mgr for Field Training, UCB India P Ltd., Mumbai.Ms. Vijaya Bharathi, Principal Architect, L&T.  Mr. Prashanath, Infosys, Mr. Krishna Kumar, Q Max, Mr. Sri, Consultant Software Industry, Mr. Ravishivram , Brand Management Consultant, Mr. Rengarajan , HR Consultant.

The highlight of the workshop was Individual Participants Competence Assessment , where each participant was evaluated by other participants , this will exactly help the participants to understand their competence level in comparison with other professionals from the same industry. Mr.P.J.Venkatraman (- Retd. Principal , Staff Training College, NABARD funded) and Treasurer – ASTRA ,  briefed about Role of ASTRA and scope and benefits in Training as a career and Industry as a whole. The 3 day workshop came to an end on 12.11.2011 with a thought provoking speech by Noted Journalist & International Time Management Expert Speaker. 

Mr. Lena Tamilvanan who was the chief guest for the valediction .  He also conferred the   “ASTRA Achiever of the Year Award”  to Mr Ravi Shivram,  Mr.J Krishnan, Mrs Sujatha Suresh and Mr.K.Rajagopalan for their valuable service and contribution to the Training Industry.
