Many parts of road got flooded, thanks to the incessant rains. The photograph shows PE Koil, West Mada Street, Ayanavaram fully waterlogged. After the heavy rainfall, normal life was turned out of gear. Several parts of Chennai city, especially the low lying areas, were inundated.
Traffic was hit in several flooded areas in the city. Rains on Monday, 31st October 2011 wreaked havoc, bringing traffic to a halt in several areas, flooding arterial roads and closing up subways.
The new Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy and Councillors swung into action, visiting the low-lying areas and supervising relief work.
