Pedestrians Squeeze Their Way Through

Pedestrians squeeze their way through a gap in the barricade at Second Avenue Road, near Anna Nagar Post Office. This act is a risk to their lives. The Chennai Traffic Police had placed barricades to close the median gap to prevent criss crossing of vehicles. 

The gap was blocked to prevent accidents and to  improve traffic movement. According to the Traffic Police, the gap was blocked as traffic signal at Blue Star at the intersection of Fifth Avenue is very nearby for vehicles to take u-turns. 

Police stated that they have taken into account the safety of pedestrians and motorists before placing barricades. But this move has not gone down well with the pedestrians. Daily many people cross the road through the narrow space between the barricades and concrete center median along the Anna Nagar Second Avenue Road.
