A variety of attractive and colourful display of dolls put up at houses and in Temples are a visual treat during the Navarathi season.
Most of the dolls are of God and Goddesses. Neighbourhood Temples in and around Anna Nagar wears a festive look and are well decorated with Kolu dolls.
Navarathi is celebrated to highlight the significance of defeat of evil by goodness.
Today Kolu are setup on various themes like environment awareness, road safety and many other unique themes conveying a good message.
Navarathri celebration will be held in Ayyappan Temple, Second Avenue Road, Anna Nagar from 28th September to 6th October 2011.
Special Abhishekam for Lord Ayyappa and Devi Durga will be performed during the period. At Vasantha Karumaari Amman Temple,no-170, Vasantha Colony, Special alangarams will done for various dities from 27th Sep to 6th October.
At the Kanagadurga Temple, West Mogappair, Ambal and Navakanni poojas will be performed till 7th October 2011 at 5pm on all days. At Maakaaliamman Temple, R-21, Navarathri celebrations is performed with Navakalasa Pooja, Homam, Abhishekam and Laksharchanai.
