Awareness programme on Solar Energy

Mr.G.Thangaraj, Dist Coordinator, NGC, inaugurated the one day awareness programme on "Solar Energy and Sky watch" jointly organised by the National Green Corps(NGC),East Chennai District and Federation of Science Clubs of Tamil Nadu (FSCT) at Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School, Nungambakkam A School of Excellence in the presence of Mrs.K.N.Krishnaveni, Headmistress. 

 About  700 students  participated in this event. Mr.M.Ravikumar, Secretary, FSCT demonstrated Solar Energy applications thro' Solar Cooker and Sunspots thro' Telescope in the afternoon and clarified the doubts raise by students. 

The highlight of the program was the telescopic view of Moon, a few stars and the close look of Jupiter surrounded by four satellites, a rare opportunity for the students of Chennai schools and that too in their own premises. 

Students ,Parents and public viewed this fascinating scene curiously by waiting in a long queue and all the objects were being explained in detail by  Mr.M.Ravikumar. Mrs.K.Kanimozhi,Mrs.M.Revathy,Mrs.S.Dhanalakshmi,Mrs.K.Vijaya and Mrs.K.Shanthi  teachers of the school coordinated this Science awareness program.
