Independence Day was celebrated in a cheerful and patriotic manner by the residents of Kambar Colony, Anna Nagar on 15th August 2011. Sports events and cultural programes was conducted for the children. Mrs.Shantha Swaminathan hoisted the National Flag in the presence of Mrs.Nallathangal. Following the flag hoisting there was sports events for kids. The whole event was organised by Ms.Kavya. In the evening a cultural programme was conducted.
It was anchored by Ms.Malar and Ms.Tanya. Mr.Mohan Naidu, Chief Executive Engineer-Environment distributed prizes to the winners of the sports events. Cash awards were given to S.Nimal Sudhan, Sai Prabhakar for their excellent performance in the Government Examinations and to the young Karate champ Dhanush for his achievements. All the events was well organised by the Kambar Colony Welfare Association members.
