Madras Day Celebration At Stella Maris College

As part of the Madras Day celebrations, an excellent and informative presentation on the topic Madras- Its past and its present was given by S.Muthiah and D.Krishnan. 

The event which took place at Stella Maris College was organized by The Public Relations Society of India, Chennai Chapter. S. Muthiah is a well known personality. 
 
He has written several books including "Madras Discovered", "Madras - The Gracious City", 
"Tales of Old and New Madras", "The Parry Story", "Getting India on the Move", and "Words in Indian English". He has also edited geography text books and atlases for the Oxford University Press. He publishes Madras Musings, a city fortnightly, for 'Chennai Heritage' and the magazine is supported as a public service by a number of organizations like Ashok Leyland, Murugappa Group, TCS, TVS Motor Company, Sanmar, L&T, Sundaram Finance and other corporates. 

He was awarded, in March 2002, the MBE, by the Queen of England for his work on Heritage and Environment conservation in Madras. The award was in recognition of "all that he has done to promote a wide and objective understanding of the past and his outstanding service to Heritage and Environment Conservation".
