Elevated Expressway Project

The photo taken shows the on going work for construction of an elevated expressway between Chennai port and Maduravoyal.The four-lane elevated expressway project was envisaged by the Chennai Port Trust and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as a measure to improve transport facility for trucks to Chennai port.At present the Chennai Elevated Tollway being built on Poonamallee High Road between Maduravoyal and Koyambedu.

The Chennai Port – Maduravoyal Expressway is a proposed 19 kilometres (12 mi) elevated expressway in the city of Chennai The corridor begins at the port , goes along the bank of the cooum river till it reaches Koyambedu and along the median of NH4 thereon till it reaches Maduravoyal.
