Motorists taking the MTH Road would have some relief from traffic congestion if the road is widened and blacktopped. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) widening the road up to two metres on either side. In places where work has been completed, there is a marked reduction in congestion.
The stretch of MTH Road becoming accident-prone. The widening of the MTH Road has been the demand of the residents and motorists for many years. A few stretches along the MTH Road(NH 205)is also reported to be in a very bad shape, especially from Padi to Avadi. The traffic has increased so much, but the size still remains the same and is in dire need to be widened.
The narrow stretches of the road is causing inconvenience to the road users. The MTH road is vital link between western suburbs and the city. Traffic Police have requested the National Highways Authority of India to install more streetlights and take measures to widen the road.
