Barricades are placed in between the gaps of the center median along Anna Nagar Second Avenue road to ensure smooth flow of traffic. The Traffic Police authorities have placed barricades between the median gaps to keep away vehicles from entering and criss-crossing the roads.
The Chennai Traffic Police along with the Highways Department has been blocking gaps on the median wherever possible to prevent jaywalking and criss-crossing of vehicles across the road. As part of the measures to reduce the rate of accidents and to improve traffic flow on the arterial road, barricades are placed at a pedestrian crossing between the medians.
Many pedestrians are seen squeezing their way through the narrow space between the barricades and the concrete median. Police officials said they had taken into account safety of pedestrians and motorists before placing.
