Raising Awareness About Kidney Ailments


To detect, prevent and to raise awareness on Kidney  ailments and to provide quality, affordable treatment to underprivileged people is the vision of Tanker Foundation. It is  a registered, non - profit charitable trust, founded on 30th June 1993. Tanker to provide healthcare and financial assistance to those who have kidney problems and do not have the wherewithal to seek medical attention. anker cares for those, the underprivileged, who suffer kidney problems of any kind, reversible or terminal, regardless of caste, creed, or religion.

Tanker along with their goodwill  ambassador actor Suriya intends setting up dialysis units in other parts of Tamil Nadu.With  actor Suriya's help aims to take the awareness and screening programme to schools and colleges all over Tamil Nadu. Founded on 30'th June 1993, The Tamilnad Kidney Research Foundation was set up primarily to provide financial assistance to underprivileged patients for dialysis, transplantation, investigation and medication costs.

The Foundation also aims to encourage organ donation at time of death. It was started by Dr. Georgi Abraham along with a group of like-minded individuals. From helping needy patients financially to spreading awareness, providing subsidized dialysis to screening camps, TANKER has taken every effort to live up to its vision. The Foundation had small beginnings with financial support offered for a small group of needy patients.

Gradually contributions started coming in and TANKER was able to start subsidized dialysis facilities.The first Subsidized Units were at Tamilnad Hospitals (Root of the Foundation’s name Tamilnad Kidney Research) and Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute.
