Chetpet Eco Park has food zone now

The Eco Park at Chetpet opposite Ega Theatre has a new place where people can hang out and share the food of their choice. The Food Zone that was opened recently has at least nine restaurants offering varied cuisine.People can pick and choose from spicy Kongu preparations to north Indian food with its masalas and kulfis from Mumbai, among others.S. Kavitha, who visited the place recently, said the food court located just inside the Eco park, was ideal for morning walkers too.“The place opens at 6 a.m. and is open till midnight. I had missed breakfast that day and the Rs.49 mini tiffin came in handy,” Ms. Kavitha said.Sources in the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation, which manages the Eco Park, said that the food court can seat over 150 persons at a time.“There are separate kitchens for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items. The parking lot can be accessed from the food court,” the official said. Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar, who formally inaugurated the food court that was on a trial run from January, said more features were being added to the Eco-Park. These include an aquarium and a virtual reality theatre that are nearing completion.The Eco Park has facilities such as boating and angling and witnesses hundreds of visitors daily.
