தேசிய அறிவியல் தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு வேலம்மாள் வித்யாலயா, மேல் அயனம்பாக்கம் பள்ளி வளாகத்தில் 24.12.2016 சனிக்கிழமை அன்று அறிவியலே நாட்டின் வளர்ச்சி என்பதைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு அறிவியல் தின விழா சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. இவ்விழாவிற்கு சிறப்பு விருந்திரனர்களாக டாக்டர்.எஸ்.பாலசுப்பிரமணியன் ஐ.ஐ.டி வேதியியல் பேராசிரியர் அவர்களும், டாக்டர்.செல்வம், அண்ணா பல்கலைக்கழகம் வேதியியல் பேராசிரியர் அவர்களும் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

இவ்விழாவில் மாணவர்களுக்கு வேதியியல் செய்முறை விளக்கப் பயிற்சியும், இன்றைய கால அறிவியலின் தனிச்சிறப்புகள் பற்றியும் விளக்கப்பட்டது. இதன் வாயிலாக மாணவர்கள் புதிய அறிவியல் உலகத்திற்கே சென்றதாக மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தனர்.

A book by an Anglo-Indian novelist released in Chennai

The release function of the book titled “The Secret Vindaloo” by Keith Butler, an Anglo-Indian novelist took place on 21st December 2016 at GRT Convention Centre, T.Nagar,Chennai. Mr.S.Muthiah welcomed the gathering. The book was released by V.Sriram, Writer and Heritage enthusiast. The first copy was presented to Dr.Bryan Peppin. The book release was followed by an interesting and humorous conservation between V.Sriram and Richard O’Connor on the novel and the Anglo-Indian community. Harry MacLure, Publisher of Anglo-Ink proposed the vote of thanks. The book release function was jointly organised by Anglo-Ink and Madras Book Club.

Accessibility to trusted doctors and availability of authenticated medical information

The young population of India has become wary of diseases cropping up because of unhealthy lifestyle, pushing them to reach out to doctors for help on their prevention and early diagnosis, states Lybrate Healthscape India 2016,in a welcoming sign that can have far-reaching positive impact on Indian healthcaresystem in the future.As per Lybrate’s annual report, about 45% young people, falling in the age group 20-45 years, actively consult doctors for prevention of diseases that arise out of lifestyle issues, while majority of others reach out to healthcare experts for issues related to either sexual or mental health.Lybrate, India’s first and largest online doctor consultation platform, released the report post analysis of around 70 million interactions, including booking of lab tests, that happened on the platform over a period of 12 months, starting January 1 this year.

Regulate traffic movement at T.Nagar

During peak hours there is unregulated traffic movement at the intersection of Thanikachalam Road and  Dr Nair Road, at Pondi Bazaar, T Nagar. A traffic police or an active signal will solve the problem and would help in controlling the vehicle movement.

As a beautification drive, stone statues of Crocodiles have been recently placed in the garden areas of Anna Nagar Tower Park.

Pongal special buses

To meet the additional rush during Pongal, as many as 11,270 special buses will be operated by the State government, with 4,445 plying from Chennai alone from 11 to 13 January 2017. An official statement here said that, apart from the 2,275 scheduled buses from Chennai to all the districts, 794 special buses will be operated on 11 January, 1,779 special buses on 12 January and 1,872 special buses on 13 January 2017.From the other important places 991 special buses on 11January, 2,291 special buses on 12 January, 3,141 special buses on 13 January will be operated. Droom History is an unbiased report which curates historical data available through various authorised data providers to delivering-depth information about a vehicle’s background. Doing excellent art works

A painting exhibition by Mrs. Rama Balakrishnan will be held at “La Galerie D’Expression,” at Hotel Ambassador Pallava, from 2nd January to 15th January 2017.Mrs.Rama Balakrishnan began her tryst with art at the young age of 11. A strong passion for the arts has been a common thread running through her family with her grandfather, aunt, brothers and cousins all being creatively inclined. During the course of her formal training in Fine Arts at the Stella Maris College, Rama's practice sessions in outdoor sketching greatly inspired her to try many new techniques in her works. 

While oil and acrylic painting became her forte, Rama also excelled in Tanjore painting.Many years spent on research into material usage, persistence and practice have helped her develop unique techniques in the art of Tanjore painting that have drawn admiration from practitioners and patrons, alike. In recent times, Rama has favoured painting everyday scenes from India in acrylics, finding the medium most versatile to give shape to her expressions.
