Aircel, one of India’s innovative mobile service providers, organised an awareness rally for Chennai’s school children at the Marina Beach in Chennai on 25th July 2015 to mark World Tiger Day. The rally was aimed at educating the children about tiger conservation, the rally drew together more than 600 students from various schools in Chennai and inspired them with Aircel’s ‘Save Our Tigers’ the largest and the most comprehensive program on tiger conservation till date.
World Tiger Day is an annual observed on 29th July 2015 to promote the protection and expansion of the wild tiger habitats and to gain support through awareness of tiger conservation. Speaking about the initiative, Sankara Narayanan K, Head SBU 1 (Chennai & Tamil Nadu), Aircel, said, “Tiger Conservation is at the core of Aircel’s Corporate Social Responsibility program and is aimed at increasing awareness, while encouraging active. Bittu Sahgal, Founder Editor, Sanctuary Asia said, “Tigers sit at the pinnacle of the ecological pyramid and saving them is equivalent to saving nature. The grand celebration was ushered in by some of the leading environment conservationists, prominent forest officials and celebrities.
