Excellence in Chess

G.K.Monnisha, 12th Std. student of Velammal Matric.Hr.Sec. School , Chennai- 37 made an excellent show in recently concluded Voronesh Chess Festival, Russia achieved three norms of Women chess international master, Women chess grand master and international chess master in that single tournament. This achievement is real boost to women chess in India.

She extends her gratitude to Velammal School and especially correspondent who has been a pillar of strength and encouragement for her chess career in addition to school studies. Monnisha is a five time national champion and two times Asian champion in age category. She is alone female member of gold medalist youth Olympiad team 2014. Monnisha’s father G.Kannaiyan is also a great chess enthusiast and wants to bring chess in India bigger way
