A flyover at the junction of 100 Feet Road – Kaliamman Koil Street junction will go a long way in decongesting traffic movement. Vehicles piling up during rush hour are a common feature. The junction near Kaliamman Koil Street, which links Koyambedu with Virugambakkam, witnesses heavy traffic movement. Once a flyover is completed, two signal junctions on 100 Feet Road would become free of traffic signals. According to Highways Department sources, the flyover would be designed in such a way that the buses do not cause hindrance to the traffic.
Virugambakkam residents want the concerned officials to decongest traffic movement on Kaliamman Koil Street. Moreover if the road is widened, traffic congestion will reduce considerably on Jawaharlal Nehru Road and Arcot Road. Koyambedu Market road and the signal junction opposite CMBT bus terminus at Koyambedu also is in need of better regulation, especially at night when there is many out station bus movement.
