Additional bus bays required at Koyambedu

The increasing Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus services at CMBT Koyambedu need more parking spaces. The bus bays set up are now not able to handle the extra buses. More one of the bus bay is used as a free way for buses to drive in and turn towards their respective stops located in CMBT premises. Daily at least four to five buses are parked outside the bus bays. Separate bays have been only provided for route numbers 15B, 27B, 46, 46G, M70, 570,M27 and 159 series.

The entry and exit gate of the terminus also needs attention and regulation by the MTC and traffic authorities. Buses which are going towards Anna Nagar and Ambattur are held up and blocked by buses waiting at the signal to proceed towards Vadapalani and Guindy. Traffic congestion at the Market Road and 100 Feet Road signal junction adds to the problem and hinders free movement of MTC buses in and out of the terminus. A proper bus priority system is the need of the hour at Koyambedu CMBT.
