Statue of Pope St.John Paul II installed

The installation and blessing ceremony of the statue of Pope St.John Paul II was held on 10th May 2014 at St.Thomas Mount National Shrine. It was on 5th February 1986, Pope John Paul II visited the St.Thomas Mount Hill Shrine. In order to celebrate the great event, Pope Francis, had sent a life size bronze statue of St.John Paul II to St.Thomas Mount Shrine as a gift. 

The event was an auspicious day at St.Thomas Mount National Shrine, stated Rev.Fr.G.Backiya Regis. The celebrants for the unveiling and blessing programme were Most Rev Archbishop Dr.Salvatore Pennachio. Apostolic Nuncio to India, Most Rev Dr.A.Neethinathan, Bishop of Chingleput and Most Rev Dr.P.Soundar Raj , Bishop of Vellore.
