The diversion channel work has now moved to Anna Nagar round tana junction along 3rd Avenue towards Anna Nagar East. The channel work between round tana and K4 signal junction is completed. Most of the dug up road stretch has also been blacktopped. A part of the granite center median along 3rd Avenue has been constructed and will be shortly finished. ]
The diversion channel which is presently under construction is built to offer a different route for excess water to flow into the Otteri Nullah, thereby further mitigating the effects f flooding and restoring water canals to their natural water level.
Official sources stated that diversion channel mitigate the impacts of a flood by offering an alternative route for the excess water. Road users will need to be more cautious while taking Anna Nagar round tana junction and 3rd Avenue in Anna Nagar East as the diversion channel work is progressing. Diversion channel work has also started along 100 Feet Road, near Koyambedu bus terminus.
