To celebrate the Pongal
festival, children residing at Nehru Nagar, Thirumangalam took active part in a
slow cycle race and lemon and spoon race. The competitions were conducted by
Nehru Nagar Plot Owners Association which has been celebrating Pongal festival
for the past 15 years.
Story telling sessions, drawing competitions and
traditional games and cultural programmes were also conducted. Attractive cash
prizes for school students who were academic achievers. A gold coin was
presented to a student who secured first place in Tamil.
