Metro Work Shifts To Round Tana Junction

In the future not far away, metro trains will be speeding underground Anna Nagar Second Avenue stretch. Chennai Metro rail project is fast progressing along Anna Nagar Second Avenue. Now major activity is taking place near the round tana junction. 

The entire space surrounding the round tana has been barricaded. Place for vehicle movement has become narrow and congested. According to official Metro rail sources about 154 diaphragm wall panels are completed in Shenoy Nagar underground Station box and the base slab excavation in progress. 

About l 105 diaphragm wall panels are completed at Anna Nagar East station box. Roof slab is also completed for 152meters and the excavation for roof slab and strut fixing in progress. Metro officials stated that 104 diaphragm walls panels are done at Anna Nagar Tower station and further excavation in progress. Excavation and strutting is also progressing at Thirumangalam ramp area near 100 Feet Road. 

Once completed Chennai Metro Rail Project will be a safe, fast, reliable, accessible, convenient, comfortable, efficient and affordable public transport in Chennai city. Anna Nagar residents are eagerly waiting the completion and opening of underground train service by 2014. Metro trains are also likely to be shortly tested along the elevated corridor between Koyambedu and Alandur section.
