Most traffic islands in Chennai city being maintained by Chennai Corporation are in a good shape. But the circular traffic island at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 6th Avenue, near K4 Police Station in East Anna Nagar has been in a state of neglect for a long time.The water fountain located at the center of the traffic islands is not in a working condition. The iron grills of the traffic island are damaged and the officials were yet to initiate any steps to attend to the issue.
The K4 signal intersection witnesses huge traffic movement on all directions. Motorists stated that once the channel diversion work gets completed action to blacktop roads and beautification of the traffic island can be carried out at the same time.
The Anna Nagar area residents request the concerned officials to take steps to beautify the traffic island and ensure it is proper maintenance. More over steps should also be initiated to water the plants in the traffic island and install reflectors on all side of the traffic island.
