Biodiversity Awareness Rally By Leo School Students

The Eco Club of Leo Matric Higher Secondary School conducted a rally on “Preserve or Perish” to bring awareness among students and public to safeguard the rich biodiversity of the country. The rally was flagged off by Mr.Xavier Dhanraj, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police,Anna Nagar on 26th August 2013. 

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr.Xavier Dhanraj, (IPS) said that the rally had a unique purpose of creating environmental awareness and it was his first function of such a kind. He appreciated the students for their effort and wished them all success. Around 400 students took part in the awareness rally which started from Jawahar Colony, Anna Nagar. 

The students held banners, placards and raised slogans on environmental protection and conservation. Some extinct species of animals like tigers, squirrels, sparrows etc, were also brought out by students during the rally. Leo School, Vice Principal Mrs.Hepzibah Solomon who had arranged the rally stated that purpose of conducting such a rally, is aimed not only make a lasting impression in the minds of the children about preserving their natural resources but also bring about an awakening among the public to conserve nature and safeguard the environment.
