The screening of an interesting and informative 50-minute documentary film titled "Dreams of a Homeland" by Paul Harris took place on 2nd August 2013 at the Anglos In The Wind office located in Anna Nagar, Chennai.
Mr.Harry MacLure told that the documentary film screening was held to mark World Anglo-Indian Day which is observed by Anglo-Indians throughout the world on 2nd August.
The documentary film is centered on McCluskieganj and explores the efforts taken by the community to setup of an Anglo-Indian homeland. McCluskieganj is a small town about 70 kilometers from Ranchi in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand.
It was the brainchild of Ernest Timothy McCluskie, who created this homeland of members for the Anglo-Indian community. Between the 1930s and '40s, scores of Anglo-Indians from all parts of the Indian sub-continent came as setters to this remote location that was once called Lapra in the erstwhile state of Bihar.
Paul Harris is an independent documentary filmmaker living in Melbourne, Australia. He is currently producing a film on the history of the Anglo-Indian community called "End of the Raaj - a history of Anglo-Indian" which traces the history of the Anglo-Indian community from 1498 to 1947. The screening ended with an active interaction between Paul and the audience.
