Transformers Need A Safety And Clean Surrounding

Electricity Transformers units around Anna Nagar seem to be prime spots for dumping waste materials and becoming a shelter for homeless.

Several transformers in and around Anna Nagar have no fencing resulting in litter building up all around it. Transformers need to be fenced to prevent littering.

Though most transformers are fenced, they are not maintained properly. The dumped waste materials cause damage to the wires. This will obviously affect the public as the power supply will be affected. “Residents should avoid dumping waste materials near the transformers as they will have to bear the brunt of their actions,” an official from Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) said. The workers of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) encounter many hindrances day in and day out when they visit the transformer sites to carry out repairs and routine maintenance work.

More over advertisement posters and hand bills are stuck on the pillar boxes making it difficult for the technical personnel to open them to carry out repair work. Its high times people need to stop are misusing the transformer space.
