Street lights increase visibility
and thus increase road safety for drivers traveling at night. Improved street
lighting is widely thought to be an effective means of preventing crime. Most
of the roads and lanes in Anna Nagar West and East are well illuminated.
Chennai Corporation Electrical Department also conducts regular checks to
ensure residential localities are well lit up at night. But it is reported that
there are only post without light fittings along R-Block, 12th and 15th Street
.
Let the Electricity Board officials take steps to install lights on the posts
as soon as possible so that R-Block streets will not only be well illuminated
but also safe for vehicle and pedestrian movement.
