Underground Station Construction Is Fast Progressing



Building of the diaphragm wall is one of the primary tasks in the construction of an underground station, say Metro engineers.

Since considerable work on one side of the underground station is over, Metro Rail construction activity has began on the other side of Second Avenue, near Blue Star junction. All diaphragm wall panels for station box have been completed at Shenoy Nagar, Anna Nagar East, Thirumangalam Ramp.

At present stage two diaphragm wall panels for Anna Nagar Tower and Thirumangalam are in progress. Casting of roof slab and associated preparatory works in progress at Anna Nagar underground station and Thirumangalam stations. Chennai Metro project aims at providing the residents of Anna Nagar with a fast, reliable, convenient, efficient, modern and economical mode of public transport. The underground line of Chennai Metro is expected to be completed in 2015.
