City-based NGO Tree Bank Trust celebrated Earth Day 2013 by organising a tree sapling plantation programme.
The event took place at Sirungulathur Municipality School and office premises.
The event also marked R.Krishnamoorthy's [(MD) Surien Pharmaceuticals P Ltd Birthday celebrations.
Thousands of saplings were planted such as coconut tree, teak wood and avenue trees.
Women Self Help Group issue coconut tree saplings to every house in the area.
Tree Bank Advisor Mr. Selvakumar and Alpha College Students, villagers, local area residents, People, Sirungulathur Village Chairman & Vice Chairman, School Head Mistress, Ward Members and IT staff members had participated in the programme. K Mullaivanam, Founder of the Tree Bank Trust spoke about the importance of having trees around residential areas.
