35th Chennai Book Fair

The 35th Chennai Book Fair is on at St. George Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, from 5th January to 17th January 2012. The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly D Jayakumar inaugurated the book fair. The Chennai Book Fair or Madras Book Fair is an annual book fair organized in the Chennai, India by the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI).

This is largest exhibition for Tamil book publishers to showcase their books. The Chennai Book Fair is one of the biggest book fairs in the city, having  almost all major publishers of India participating in it. The entrance ticket is Rs5/-.On week days the fair is open from 3pm to 9pm. On holidays, weekends it is open from 11am to 9pm. For details contact 28155238.

Annual Grand Carnival At Anna Nagar Ladies Club

The 39th annual grand carnival of Anna Nagar Ladies Club is scheduled to be held on 11-02-2012 Saturday from 10am to 8pm at old no-19/1 and new no-2, X Block, Anna Nagar. The participants  will put up their stalls and counters selling textiles, electronic goods, toys, bags, artificial jewelleries, household articles and eatables .

Surprise gifts will be given to stall owners and people  who visit the stalls through luck draw. Those who wish to put up their stalls at the carnival may register their names at the club premises on 10th, 24th and 27th January between 1 to 4pm. There  will be function in the evening at 6 pm. TV Fame artist will draw lucky numbers and distribute the prizes.

Anna Nagar Humour Club Meeting Today

Anna Nagar Humour Club will hold its monthly meting on 8th January 2012, (Today) at  4pm at Shri Krishnaswamy Matriculation School, Vaigai Colony, Anna Nagar West. The Chief Guest will be well versed humourist Mr.R.V.Ramani, from Humour Club International Chromepet Chapter.

Chennai Corporation Stated Re-laying Damaged Roads

The Chennai Corporation has started re-laying roads and use of plastic-mixed bitumen. The roads in Anna Nagar, Mogappair and Villivakkam which got damaged during the monsoon season will soon become smooth once again. The road re-laying work was  launched by Mayor Saidai S.Duraisamy. 

The Mayor  said that all roads in the city will have plastic content in future. A total of 1,616 roads to be re-laid in 2011-2012 in the city would have 10 per cent plastic content in addition to bitumen.

Re-laying of 118 bus route roads, totalling 78 km, would be taken up at a cost of Rs.50.02 crore. The initiative to re-lay roads with plastics in the city follows a gazette notification by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. The Chennai Corporation and the Highways Department have already began patch work on rain-battered roads in the city. Roads such as 100 Feet Road  and MTH  

 Road have many uneven stretches.Many roads in the city have been damaged on account of the recent rains. The damaged roads include Ennore High road, Perambur High Road, Stephenson Road, Konnur High Road, Kolathur Main Road, Nelson Manickam Road, , New Avadi Road, Anna Nagar Third Avenue etc.
