Nethrodaya, organised a State Level Conference on Career Counselling and
Guidance for the Visually Challenged at its premises located at Nolambur Phase
II, Mogappair West, Chennai 37. The chief guests for the function were ThiruV.
K. Jeyakodi I.A.S., Principal Secretary/State Commissioner for the Differenlty
Abled, Thiru. Nataraj I.P.S, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, Thiru.
K. P. Srinivasan, Deputy Director, IEDSS, Directorate of School Education,
Dr.
Milan Dass, Senior Research Officer. Thiru Nataraj IPS, Chairman, TNPSC, while
addressing the gathering stated that Visually impaired persons should qualify
and improve their skills to avail the government jobs. Govinda Krishnan,
Founder of Nethrodaya said “Our aim is to achieve the total empowerment of the
visually impaired community”. Nethrodaya also distributed free audio study
materials for 10th and 12th standard Visually Impaired students.
Nethrodaya
honoured two distinguished and eminent personalities who have significantly
contributed towards welfare of differently abled community. The two day
intensive conference brought around 300 visually challenged students from rural
areas of Tamil Nadu aspiring to become contributors to society.
