For A Good Cause

Actor Suriya, spent an hour with 10 employees of Whirlpool on the occasion of celebrating their win of the auction where the actor had agreed to a meal with the highest bidder- all proceeds being donated to TANKER Foundation, a Chennai based NGO .TANKER was set up primarily to provide
subsidized and free dialysis and financial assistance to underprivileged  patients for dialysis, transplantation, investigation and medication costs.

The Foundation also aims to encourage organ donation at time of death. This was part of the actor's gesture of giving in 2011's edition of the Joy of Giving Week.

The Joy of Giving Week, is India's largest festival of giving, held every year between2nd to 8th October. The festival is a 100% volunteer driven, publicly owned initiative and not an organisation or NGO. In 3 years since 2009, the festival has seen crores of rupees being raised in philanthropy, millions of
volunteer hours being contributed, tonnes of material being donated to causes through the participation of people across the board. Suriya said, ' I am delighted to be part of this festival and thankful to Whirlpool for making the donation to Tanker Foundation'.
